Risper Faith and Phoina Tosha have been criticized online after sparking backlash for mocking their friend Amber Ray’s home during a recent broadcast. Their remarks about Amber’s neighborhood did not sit well with fans and quickly drew widespread condemnation.
In response, Amber Ray delivered what many Kenyans have praised as a “mature clapback,” addressing the disrespect from her so-called friends with grace and confidence. The incident has fueled outrage, with many Kenyans calling out Phoina and Risper for their insensitive comments.
Risper Faith and Phoina Tosha appeared on a webcast to promote hotels located near Amber Ray’s residence in Syokimau. During the broadcast, the duo pointedly urged their followers to inform Amber that they were in the area—just near her home—adding a layer of shade that many interpreted as deliberate provocation.
They made fun of Syokimau's dustiness and said they wanted her to cook for them. "Amber resides in Syokimau, where we are. "A place that's always dusty," Risper remarked, laughing sarcastically.
She turned to Phoina and asked if they might go to their friend's house for dinner. "Tuko kwa kina Amber kwa vumbi can we go eat dinner at her place," she said.
Risper went on to mockingly say that since Syokimau is a dusty area, they expected Amber to "prepare them some dust." She added, "We're in Syokimau, so call our best friend," further fueling the perception that their comments were laced with sarcasm aimed at Amber Ray.
Inform her that we are in the atupikie vumbi vumbi area code. Heat and dust are prevalent," she continued. Phoina implored Amber not to take them seriously while giggling at Risper's interpretation.
"One thing she should know is that these are jokes it's not serious," Phoina said. The mother of two used her Instagram stories to reply to her friend's backhanded jokes.
"It still amazes me how someone can be invited and paid to promote a business in a certain area, yet speak negatively about that very place," Amber remarked, expressing amazement that the two were sent to promote a local business but still speaking negatively about it.
I don't say this because I'm an expert; rather, I think that experience is the best teacher and that people should arrive with a purpose," she remarked.
