The late Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ong'ondo Were, will be buried next Friday at his ancestral home in Homa Bay County.

The announcement was made by the chairperson of the funeral planning committee, Peter Kaluma, who is also the MP for Homa Bay Town. According to Kaluma, the body of the slain legislator will be flown to Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay on Thursday, where members of the public will have an opportunity to view it.

A requiem mass is scheduled to take place in Nairobi on Wednesday ahead of the burial. Kaluma noted that a large turnout is expected in Kasipul, with dignitaries from various political affiliations anticipated to attend the send-off.

In the meantime, political leaders and supporters continue to gather at the late MP’s residence in Karen, Nairobi, to support the family and participate in burial preparations.

Charles Ong'ondo Were tragically lost his life on Wednesday evening after being shot by unidentified gunmen near the City Mortuary roundabout along Ngong Road.

Investigations into his killing are ongoing, with detectives reporting significant progress in identifying suspects involved in the murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to help shed more light on the incident.
