Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has firmly rejected attempts by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to draw him into President William Ruto’s administration. Kindiki, who recently toured the Ukambani region, praised Kalonzo as a wise leader capable of offering valuable guidance to the government.

However, Kalonzo dismissed the overture, labeling the Kenya Kwanza administration as a “blood-based government” and accusing it of lacking integrity. He declared that he would not align with a leadership he deems disingenuous and vowed to remain steadfast in the United Opposition coalition.

Speaking during a church service in Ngong’, Kalonzo emphasized his commitment to working with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to unseat President Ruto in the 2027 General Election. “I will work with the honest man, Gachagua. This so-called broad-based government is built on bloodshed. Just ask about the latest case — Albert Ojwang’,” Kalonzo stated.

He further criticized Kindiki, who previously served as Interior Cabinet Secretary, demanding public apologies for the deaths of protesters during the Gen Z demonstrations and the alleged killing of Ojwang’ while in police custody. Kalonzo asserted that these incidents occurred under Kindiki’s watch, thus holding him accountable.

Addressing political manipulation, Kalonzo warned against being used to sway the Ukambani electorate, reiterating his determination to run against President Ruto in 2027. “Even Ruto knows I am his biggest threat on the ballot,” he said.

He concluded by demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, whom he linked to Ojwang’s death.

Kalonzo’s strong stand signals deepening opposition unity and growing momentum ahead of the next general election. His remarks are likely to intensify the political pressure on the Ruto-led government.
