Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned a Level 3 community hospital at Kyumbi along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway to enhance healthcare provision.

The hospital is a gift from Purple Dot International Limited, property developers of residential homes in Kyumbi that was built to ease the pressure in level 5 hospitals.

Speaking during the commissioning, Ndeti said that the hospital was strategically located to save lives, given its location along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway, where traffic road accidents often happen.

She affirmed that the hospital is a testimony to what can be achieved through public-private partnerships (PPP) for the greater good of the county.

“This achievement is a result of collective vision and commitment from our donor partners, the Purple Dot, and I also call upon other donors to partner with us in various projects that will improve the livelihood of Machakos residents,” said Wavinya.

Further, she stated that the county must commit to playing its role as a community to safeguard the infrastructure from the theft of drugs and to ensure the facility is used for the benefit of the people and future generations.

Wavinya promised to add more so that healthcare provision will be the cornerstone of development in the county.

The county boss added that the new hospitals and the Community Health Promoter Programme launched last week will ensure Mwananchi does not have to travel long distances to seek medical services.

The fully equipped hospital has mother-and-child units, a theatre, a pediatric laboratory, an X-ray room, special clinics, an outpatient unit, and a nursing station.
