According to police, the body of a 75-year-old man was found hanging from an avocado tree at Odiado ‘C’ village in Ugenya, Siaya County.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the elderly man is suspected to have killed himself.

The matter was reported by the Assistant Chief of the Kagonya sub-location before officers from Sega police station visited the scene.

While confirming the incident, Kimaiyo stated that the body was then removed to a private mortuary in Sega town to await postmortem as investigations begin into the matter.

On the other hand, a 35-year-old took his own life by swallowing pesticide, after which he used a kitchen knife to cut his throat in Mbamba-ini village, Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the incident, Mwea-east Sub-county police commander James Mutua said Isaac Muthii Njagi, who was a boda boda chairman, bought the pesticide in a local shop, after which he retreated to his bedroom, where he swallowed the substance before cutting his throat.

At the same time, his wife had gone to the salon.

The man is said to have called a village elder after causing harm to himself.

Police officers who responded to the village elder’s call rushed him to Mwea Mission Hospital, and he was later transferred to Kerugoya Hospital, where he died on Sunday night.
