Police on Tuesday arrested three judicial officers, including a court assistant, suspected of issuing fake court receipts in Makueni County.
The National Police Service on Wednesday identified the suspects as Nelson Munyaka, David Mwaura, and William Musembi.
“The trio is accused of conspiring and issuing fake receipts for payment of court fines and forfeitures.”
The three are also accused of releasing accused persons from either court or police stations on fake fine receipts.
Police said that receipts believed to have been forged amounting to Kes 161,000 were verified and established to have been issued between February 14 and February 16 in respect to some traffic cases where accused persons had pleaded guilty and fined.
