President William Ruto has officially launched the WRC Safari Rally 2024 competition at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Before flagging off the racing cars on Thursday, Ruto said the prestigious motor racing event is a "truly special Easter holiday gift to millions of families to bond over a thrilling spectacle."

"You really can't find a rally as tough, compelling, beautiful and rewarding as the one in Kenya.”

The Head of State has assured that Kenya has made world-class preparations to provide top-notch racing grounds and fun activities during the shakedown, which will run from today, March 28, to Sunday, March 31.

The local drivers who will feature in the race include 5-time Safari Rally champion Carl 'Flash' Tundo, ARC African Continent race champions Karani Patel, Hamza Anwar, Aakif Virani, and Sommah Vohra.

Today, The drivers will show dominance against their foreign counterparts in a special show in the Kasarani area before heading to Naivasha, Nakuru county, where the event will occur.


The second round of the car racing competition is set for two rounds tomorrow (Friday) in ​​Loldia, Geothermal, and Kedong.

On Saturday, racing fans will be entertained for two rounds by a ride from ​​the Soysambu area to Elementaita and Sleeping Warrior.

A 36-kilometre terrain will be the driver's racing field on Sunday, starting from Malewa, Oserengoni, before all activities are officially completed at Hells Gate for two laps.
