Gladys Gesaka Aminga, the Chief Officer in the Department of Medical Services, Public Health, and Sanitation in Kisii County, has resigned amidst an integrity probe following her involvement in the impeachment proceedings of former Kisii County Deputy Governor Robert Monda.
In her resignation letter addressed to Kisii County Governor Simba Arati on March 28, 2024, Aminga stated her intention to step down from her position on May 1, 2024, to facilitate a smooth transition. She expressed her commitment to serving diligently during the notice period.
Aminga, appointed by Governor Arati in January 2023, plans to return to serving Kisii County residents as an assistant director of clinical services after the expiry of her notice period. She pledged to continue supporting the governor's administration in fulfilling its objectives.
The impeachment of Dr. Monda on March 14, based on allegations of bribery, implicated Aminga indirectly. However, she did not provide reasons for her resignation, mentioning only that it was a difficult decision to make.
Aminga expressed gratitude to Governor Arati for the opportunity to serve in his government, acknowledging the valuable experiences and skills gained during her tenure.
