A suspected drug dealer arrested over the weekend with a variety of drugs valued at millions of shillings will be detained for three more days until the ongoing investigation is concluded.

The suspect, Salim Kilanga Mwinyi, was arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Hon. Rita Orora on Monday, with the prosecution requesting additional time to complete investigations.

The detective stated that investigating offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 4 of 2022 would broaden the investigation into Mwinyi and his associates' violations of other laws.

Further, the court heard that the Anti-Narcotics Unit officers recovered three white clear polythene papers with brown substances suspected to be narcotic drugs during the operation in Magogoni area within Kisauni sub-county in Mombasa County.

During the arrest, police recovered kes 1.7 million in Kenyan currency and USD 3,610.

The investigator also stated that the weighing, sampling, and analysis of recovered suspected drugs takes time due to the complexities involved.

The matter will be mentioned on April 18, 2024, and further directions will be given.
