Mwangi Wa Iria, the former governor of Murang'a, was ordered by the High Court on Monday to appear immediately at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi.
Justice Nixon Sifuna ordered Wa Iria and other parties who have not yet entered a plea in the Ksh. 140 million Murang'a County graft cases to appear before the EACC on Tuesday so that their statements and fingerprints could be taken before entering a plea at the Milimani Law Courts.
Failure to do this, the court directed that they be arrested.
Wa Iria had obtained conservatory orders from Murang'a High Court alongside his co-accused individuals in the case, his brother-in-law Solomon Mutura Kimani and his wife Jane Waigwe Kimani.

On April 25, however, Murang'a High Court Judge James Wakiaga invalidated the orders and sent the case to the Nairobi High Court Division on Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption for additional guidance.
The petition contesting the DPP's choice to charge Wairia and the co-accused will be discussed on May 2.
Along with Patrick Kagumu Mukuria, Jane Wanjiru Mbuthia, David Maina Kiama, and David Mamma Njeri, Wa Iria, his spouse, and brother-in-law are also charged.
They are connected to procurement fraud through the awarding of irregular tenders and other irregularities totaling Ksh. 140 million between 2015 and 2016.
