Former Murang'a governor Mwangi wa Iria has pleaded not guilty in a kshs 351 million corruption case.
It is alleged that between October 21, 2014, and June 19, 2017, the governor of Murang'a County, wa Iria, together with nine other accused people, unlawfully contracted for the supply of media services, awarding Top Image Media Consultant Limited approximately Ksh.351 million.
The former governor requested bail through his attorneys and said he would follow all court orders.

The court was told, "We invite you to take judicial notice of political prosecutions and aggression against principles of multi-party.”
The prosecution had no objection to their release on bail.
"In this particular case we pray that you release the accused persons on bail terms guided by the bail and bond policy," the prosecution submitted.
Wa Iria was at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) police station in Nairobi to give a statement and have his fingerprints taken as part of the continuing investigation into corruption charges.
Last week, Five more people were summoned to court for allegedly embezzling Ksh 542 million from the Murang'a County Government.
The DPP's office said that Patrick Kagumo Mukuria, Jane Wanjiru Mbuthia, David Maina Kiama, David Maina Njeri, and Peter Muturi Karanja, as well as two companies, Top Image Media Consultants and Value View Limited, must appear in court on April 29, 2024 for plea taking and other directions.
