Lawyer Miguna Miguna has come to the defense of Larry Madowo against both critics and government officials in Kenya. Madowo has been under fire for his coverage exposing the deteriorating conditions at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). His clashes with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen have escalated, with Murkomen accusing him of unpatriotic behavior and consistently portraying Kenya in a negative light to the global audience.

On Wednesday, May 1, Larry once again criticized Murkomen following a blackout at JKIA.

“Blackout right now at JKIA, hours after Kenya’s Transport minister toured it and said they had “stabilized the electricity supply,” Larry posted.

Larry's recent post sparked a heated debate, with some urging the CNN journalist to temper his criticism and allow the CS to address the issues. However, Miguna disagreed with these critics, asserting that the journalist was justified in reporting the situation accurately, as it was not fabricated news. The controversial lawyer further emphasized that CNN hired Larry not to promote patriotism but to deliver accurate reporting.

“Those attacking CNN’s LarryMadowo for reporting on Kenya are wrong. The attacks would be fair and merited if Madowo were manufacturing news, spreading fake news, distorting, or sensationalizing events,”

“However, reporting ACCURATELY on something some people may perceive as “negative news” is perfectly justified. Such reports expose things that need to be corrected, or resolved, for the benefit of Kenyans,” he said.

Madowo joined CNN in 2021 as its correspondent based in Nairobi. He was later promoted to the position of CNN International correspondent and began anchoring the weekly program 'One World'.
