After being stranded in her home due to severe flooding, a Kitengela woman took to the microblogging platform X to beg for assistance. She has since received it.

Wangari Gikonyo, an X user, posted a series of frantic tweets more than 14 hours ago, at roughly 2.48 am on Wednesday, pleading with her followers and Kenyans, in general, to come to her aid as her home had flooded and she was now unable to escape.

"OMG. We are dying. Anyone in Kitengela please help. FLOODS!" she tweeted.

Three hours later, the woman posted a brief video on X demonstrating the significant flooding that had affected her house, the entire compound, and the surrounding roads.

She wrote, "Still waiting to be rescued!"

Gikonyo once declared that her children were the most important thing to her and that she was frantically trying to save them, not her personal belongings, as the situation seemed to be getting even riskier.

"Nataka tu kutoka na watoi. Izi vitu ata sitaki," she pleaded. "Niko na watoto kwa nyumba nisaidieni..."

Gikonyo has now declared that she has finally found assistance following a terrifying ordeal marked by unrelenting storms and unparalleled flooding.

She used the same platform to express her gratitude to her fans and anyone who attempted to assist her, stating that she would later count her losses since she had finally been able to leave and find a new place to stay.

"Thank u to all of you who reached out & encouraged me. To those who are still supporting me, I'm grateful," she wrote.

"The rain has stopped and the water has subsided. We have managed to get out and have a place to stay. I'm neither scared nor panicking sai ni kuwa safe... I'll count the losses later..."

Following the announcement of her safety, hundreds of Kenyans expressed their relief that she had found help and well wishes in the comment section.

Gikonyo's predicament highlights the horrors of tens of thousands of Kenyans due to the country's serious flooding threat.

Due to the town's flooding, the Kenya Red Cross has already begun relocating families in Kitengela.

Many families along Deliverance Road, Balozi Road, Baraka Road, Blessed Court, New Valley, Changombe, and the KAG area have been impacted, according to a statement from the Kenya Red Cross.
