A police officer from Matungulu, Machakos County, has died after his car was swept away by floods in the River Kware.

At about 4 p.m., members of the public noticed the officer's car sunken in the river and called the police, who recovered Inspector Cyprian Kasili's body.

According to the police report, "It was established that he was driving back to his home in Lowland Estate within the Kware area."

The officer's body was sent to Patjud Funeral Home for autopsy, while efforts to recover the car from the river continued into Thursday morning.
