Protazio Begumisa, a politician and head of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), shared a photo of himself and a few others standing on a decrepit wooden bridge across a shallow stream.

Begumisa seems delighted with his accomplishments, writing, "People in Ndorwa East can now use the Rubira bridge, which I recently repaired."

Begumisa attempted to run for a parliamentary seat in Uganda's Ndorwa East constituency for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in 2021. He lost.

After uploading the blurry photo, it received hundreds of replies and 'likes' from individuals in Uganda and all around Africa.

Many individuals who reacted to the tweet mocked the politician for his inadequate attempt to alleviate the plight of the people in his area and compared him to any other African politician in any given nation.

"Congratulations! Kindly add a billboard indicating the name of the company that constructed it, the engineer, and the generous sponsor. What a marvellous job!" said Ugandan cartoonist and columnist Jim Spire Ssentongo

The politician, not phased by the negative comments, said he was not the area's elected official.

He lost his seat to his closest competitor by only 136 votes during the 2021 elections.
