A Nakuru court has issued a fresh arrest warrant for Collins Kibet, the grandson of former President Daniel arap Moi, over his ongoing failure to meet court-ordered child support obligations. The warrant, dated March 27, 2025, comes after Kibet repeatedly defied directives related to the care of his two children.
The case, filed in 2021 by his estranged partner Gladys Jeruto Tagi, accuses Kibet of abandoning their children and neglecting to provide for their education, healthcare, and daily needs. Despite a court ruling in June 2022 that required him to contribute to their upkeep, Kibet has failed to comply.
He now owes over KSh 2.2 million in child support arrears. This failure has led to the suspension of the children from Greensteds International School due to unpaid fees, putting their education and well-being in jeopardy.

Efforts to serve him with summons have been futile, with law enforcement unable to trace him at his known residences in Kabarak, Eldama Ravine, and Nairobi’s Kabarnet Gardens. He has reportedly ignored calls and other official communication.
This is not the first time Kibet has faced legal consequences over the issue. In September 2024, he was arrested in Ongata Rongai after months of evading authorities. He received a seven-day jail sentence for contempt of court, which was suspended after he posted a KSh 1 million bond with the promise of compliance—a promise he has yet to fulfill.
Kibet’s lawyers argue that financial difficulties tied to ongoing inheritance disputes have prevented him from meeting his obligations. However, the court has ruled that such personal issues do not excuse his failure to support his children.
The case is set for mention on May 25, 2025, to review whether he has fulfilled the court's orders. Until then, the arrest warrant remains active, and police have been directed to locate and detain him.
