Cabinet Secretary for National Defense, Aden Duale, has illuminated the less well-known facets of Kenyan politics in his most recent book, "For The Record." Multiple political secrets are revealed in the book by Duale, who previously held the office of Member of Parliament for the Garissa Township for a significant amount of time.

The ex-Majority Leader in the National Assembly has revealed in his book how the former Vice President and Wiper Party Leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, narrowly missed the presidency due to his comments.

He acknowledged that at the time, both current President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta were being prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

During this period of heightened political activity, with the general election fast approaching and the fear that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto could face imprisonment at the International Criminal Court, they sought out the former Vice President, Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka, to run as the presidential candidate in the election.

Kenyatta and Ruto saw Kalonzo as the best candidate to partner with, and they believed that a coalition between the three would increase their chances of defeating the then-opposition leader in the country, Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga.

In this meeting, Hon. Kalonzo made a serious mistake, according to Duale, when he assured Mr. William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta that they would be detained by the International Criminal Court.

" As a lawyer, I am telling you for free that you will be imprisoned by the international criminal court for not less than ten years each." The book quotes Mr. Kalonzo.

The book asserts that the duo were deeply offended by Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka's remarks and subsequently changed their minds about supporting him for the presidency.
