According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, the government would review all licenses awarded to alcohol firms in the country.

The CS promised that the crackdown would allow the government to identify and eradicate alcohol manufacturers that make dangerous and unlawful substances.

"Those who are compliant have nothing to worry about." "There are unscrupulous manufacturers who, despite being licensed to produce legitimate alcohol, have set up parallel lines to produce poisonous substances," Kindiki explained.

The CS further stated that any Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, or Police personnel who receive protection money from illegal alcohol brewers or narcotics peddlers would be fired.

Kindiki addressed on Monday during the Upper Eastern region's multiagency engagement in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County.

Kindiki lists illicit alcohol and drug abuse as one of five national security risks, along with terrorism and banditry.

"The same risks that terrorists and bandits pose to our country are the same, if not worse, as those posed by criminals who manufacture, distribute, and sell these illicit alcohol and narcotics," the CS stated.

Kindiki stressed that the government would be harsh in its war against illegal brews and drug misuse, which have taken the lives of many young people in the country.
