The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is looking for 20,000 intern teachers to support the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) rollout.
TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia has advised all those interested in the posts to apply before July 18.
Macharia stated they are expected to fill 18,000 vacancies in Junior Secondary Schools and 2,000 in Primary Schools.
“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Commission’s website not later than 18th July, 2023,” Macharaia said.
A monthly salary of Kes 15,000 will be paid to teacher interns affiliated to primary schools.

In contrast, a monthly stipend of Kes 20,000 will be paid to those attached to junior secondary schools.
The stipend will be given after any necessary legal deductions.
The minimum qualifications for applicants for junior secondary school teacher internships include Kenyan citizenship, a diploma in education, and a minimum mean grade of C and C+ in two teaching subjects on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent. A teacher must be a member of the Teachers Service Commission.

“To qualify for recruitment of Primary School Teacher Interns, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirement, be a Kenyan citizen, Must be a holder of a PI Certificate, must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission and teachers with Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (CBC) will have an added advantage,” stated Macharia in the statement.
Successful candidates will be required to have Personal Accident Insurance to cover for personal risks during the internship period, and the selection of Candidates will strictly be on merit based on the number of vacancies per County.
