Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has criticized certain leaders from Western Kenya, accusing them of neglecting the region's needs in favor of personal gain.

Natembeya asserted that the community has long suffered from poverty and ineffective governance due to the opportunistic actions of some leaders.

Natembeya accused certain leaders from the community of leveraging their political affiliations to exploit the political power of the community.

Regarding the case involving Moses Wetangula, Natembeya highlighted the importance of neutrality for the speaker and criticized Wetangula for not prioritizing this aspect. He emphasized that their disagreements are not personal but rather political. Natembeya lamented the lack of unity within the Luhya community, stating that if they were united, they could more effectively advocate for top positions in the country.

However, when assessing Wetang'ula's conduct, it's evident that he is not inclined towards collaborative dialogue. Instead of prioritizing his responsibilities, he seems more preoccupied with political affairs. This is why I assert that the notion of a "kingpin" in Western Kenya holds no significance. What's needed are transformational leaders who actively engage in meaningful work that positively impacts people's lives, thereby making their presence felt in tangible ways.
