Following a thrilling 16–15 victory over England at the Stade de France on Saturday, a late Handre Pollard penalty secured South Africa's spot in the Rugby World Cup final against New Zealand, which takes place next weekend.

Whoever prevails in the southern hemisphere fight on Saturday will become the first team to win the Webb Ellis Trophy four times, making history.

England led 15–6 after four first-half penalties and a massive drop goal by Owen Farrell. However, the Boks responded with a converted RG Snyman try, and with three minutes remaining, Pollard scored the game's winning 49-meter penalty.

After barely 30 minutes of play, Pollard entered the game and proved to be the English's heartbreaker again, scoring 22 points in the 32-12 victory in the World Cup final 2019.

The decision by South Africa's head coach Jacques Nienaber to bench Manie Libbok in favor of Pollard was a critical one, as Libbok was unproductive and out of sorts.
