A 22-year-old woman was charged in Narok court with sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy and enticing him out of school.

Mercy Chelanga, who works in a local bar in Narok North's Ololulunga market, stood before Resident Magistrate Phyllis Shinyada and was charged with keeping the kid in her house for over a month.

The woman was sexually attacked from December 16, 2022, through Tuesday, April 18, 2023, according to the court.

The boy's mother is alleged to have become concerned after the minor began inexplicably disappearing from their home and immediately began her investigation.

She was later told by well-wishers of her son's whereabouts, at which point she rushed to the woman's house and discovered him locked inside while the accused was at work.

The mother reported the incident, and the woman was detained. The child fled into a neighbouring woodland but was eventually apprehended.

The accused rejected the claims filed against her, and the case is scheduled to be heard on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
