Kenyans on social media have expressed varied opinions following reports of a purported altercation between officers of the National Police Service (NPS) and the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in Lodwar, Turkana County.

According to sources, the reported clash transpired when NPS officers apprehended KDF soldiers for allegedly causing public disturbance. Additional reports suggest that the police were compelled to arrest the soldiers due to their alleged involvement in public nuisance.

Images circulating online showed four KDF officers seated on the ground, surrounded by NPS personnel, engaged in conversations with a senior police official, whose identity remained unconfirmed at the time of reporting. According to the reports, the military personnel were seated while Military Police were contacted to come and pick them up.

Kenyans expressed diverse opinions, with many doubting the possibility of a police officer treating a military officer in such a manner. Others suggested that the Military Police were feared, implying that the four individuals would face severe consequences upon their arrival.

The National Police Service is responsible for upholding law and order in society, granting them the authority to arrest individuals irrespective of their status. Nevertheless, instances of clashes often arise when military personnel and police officers encounter disagreements.
